Hallowed be your name
Hallowed be thy name - The word “hallowed” means to render or pronounce holy. God’s name is essentially holy; and the meaning of this petition is, “Let thy name be celebrated, venerated, and esteemed as holy everywhere, and receive from all people proper honor.” It is thus the expression of a wish or desire, on the part of the worshipper, that the name of God, or that God himself, should be held everywhere in proper veneration.
Gods name should be feared / reverenced. 1. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom 2. The fear of the Lord is clean ( scribes would wash their hands every time they wrote the name of God) 3. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him 4. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him 5. Ps. 34:11 I will teach you the fear of the Lord 6. Proverbs 1:29 you must choose the fear of the Lord 7. The fourth command. Thou shall not take the name of the Lord in vain. When we speak his name it should be with purpose.
We are to Honor His name1. Hold above all others 2. No other name given to man
We are to uphold his name
1.Live up to, walk worthy of. 1Thess.2:12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
1. Change your conduct or change your name (Alexander the great)
